When we first started THEWHITELABEL, we faced the same decision that many clothing brands face: what fabric should we use for our oversized t-shirts?
Most oversized t-shirts on the market are made using 180GSM cotton. While this keeps costs low and makes the shirts lighter, we found that many of them felt too thin for our liking. We wanted to create a quality oversized tee that felt substantial, durable, and premium from the moment you put it on.
We then explored 260GSM cotton, which is considered heavyweight compared to standard t-shirts. The fabric felt thicker, held its shape better, and offered improved durability. For many brands, 260GSM would already be considered a premium option.
However, we didn't want to settle.
After testing different fabrics and samples, we made the decision to use 300GSM 100% premium cotton for our oversized tees.

Using 180GSM or even 260GSM fabric would have significantly reduced our production costs. Many brands choose these options because they are more affordable and easier to manufacture.
But from the beginning, THEWHITELABEL was never about creating the cheapest oversized t-shirt in Singapore.
Our goal was to create one of the best premium oversized t-shirts in Singapore — a tee that delivers premium quality, comfort, durability, and streetwear style.
Choosing 300GSM 100% cotton increased our production costs considerably, but we believe our customers — including streetwear enthusiasts, casual wearers, and those wanting versatile and stylish everyday wear — deserve the best product possible.
